The Renfrew Industrial Commission (RIC) has been successfully developing
industry and business while promoting Renfrew as a place to visit, live and
do business for over 40 years.
An independent
and self-supporting corporation, the Commission is made up of a volunteer
Chair along with six members from the community, supported by a full-time
manager. The Commission is focused on furthering its mandate to attract new
industry, employers and people to the community, while supporting existing
business. Today, the success of the Commission's work is reflected in the
economic boom being experienced in Renfrew.
Renfrew has
become the established commercial hub for the area, with over 30,000 people
living and working within traveling distance. Shoppers are attracted by new
large retail developments on O'Brien Road and a thriving downtown core
filled with interesting and historic stores.
The recent
four-lane expansion of Highway 417 from Ottawa to Arnprior has increased the
number of visitors to Renfrew and has made the transport of goods and
services in and out of the area even faster and more economical.
Along with
attracting new business and industry, the Industrial Commission also
supports the many large, medium and small-business employers that range from
manufacturing plants to retail business in the downtown core.
